Timeline

June-September: Interested individuals register their interest to serve for the upcoming application cycle in the GRFP Reviewer Registration System.

Late October to Mid-November: NSF issues invitations to reviewers to serve based on program need. Reviewers respond to the invitation by accepting or declining service.

Mid November to Early December: Reviewers read reviewer resources, create/update a Research.gov account, and attend a virtual training session that covers service requirements, including accessing systems, reviewing applications according to NSF Merit Review Criteria, attending panels, and finalizing reviews. Reviewers have multiple opportunities to participate in virtual training sessions and office hours.

December to Early January: Reviewers complete review of assigned applications and submit scores and comments.

Early to Mid-January: Reviewers convene for a one-day virtual panel to discuss applications. Reviewers finalize application reviews.
