Reference Letter Information
The GRFP Module allows applicants to request up to five (5) reference letters and to rank those reference letters in order of preference for review. If more than three reference letters are submitted for your application, letters from the three highest-ranked reference writers will be included in your application package for review.
Reference writers will be emailed the request to submit a reference letter on an applicant’s behalf. Reminders will be sent to applicants and reference writers leading up to the reference letter and application deadlines.
To avoid having a noncompliant application, applicants should follow up with their reference writers to ensure letters are submitted by 5:00 p.m. ET on the reference letter deadline. As of 2024-25, the reference letter deadline occurs before the application deadline.
Please provide the following information for each of your references:
- Name
- Organizational Affiliation
- Email Address
- Indicated rank for each reference letter
Take care when entering the email address for your reference writers. They will not receive notification from the system or be able to access the Reference Letter System without a current and accurate email address.
